A Teenage Race Fan, Meet Conor Daly

So now that you know a little bit about me, it’s probably time I introduce you to the people this blog is really supposed to be about, young, American racecar drivers. These drivers have all proven themselves to be the cream of the crop in American open wheel talent and this blog was created to keep you up to date on them.
1.    Conor Daly
Age: 18
Hometown: Noblesville, Indiana

Why you’ve heard his name before: Conor is the son of former Formula One driver Derek Daly. He won several karting championships before transitioning to racecars. In 2008, Conor raced and won the Skip Barber National Championship while simultaneously maintaining his position in the Ontario Formula Ford 1600 class, where he took rookie of the year honors. Also in 2008, Conor earned the Team USA scholarship, which allowed him to compete in England where he won the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy. Last year, Conor finished third in the Star Mazda championship with one pole, one win, and six podium finishes.

Plans for 2010: Conor is racing Star Mazda with Juncos racing this year. In the race opener at Sebring he started fourth and finished third, despite car trouble and at the second round he lead wire to wire on the way to his second Star Mazda victory. Conor hopes that he can take the Star Mazda title on his journey to Formula One.

Fun Fact: Conor has a collection of signed Formula One hats, including one from every team in 2009.
